My name is Natasha McCreesh, from Huddersfield in the UK. After visiting Liberia for the first time in November 2016, and then again in February 2017, I was invited to continue to serve the people I met and in particular the people of Duwehn Town, in Grand Bassa County. I am committed to going there once a year, coaching and mentoring on economic growth projects,
My relationship with the people of Duwehn Town is focused around the building of a school and the development of an agricultural project to sustain the school. They know that if they have educated children and a shared vision of sustainability they can lift their community out of poverty. I am committed to supporting them on this project in whatever way I can, they connected me to my values of sustainability, learning and growth.
Whilst in Duwehn Town I met the local football team and they captured my enthusiasm. Coming from a town with a strong football team at the heart of the community, I believe that team sports are powerful in creating community spirit and connectedness.
I asked them to gather for this photo whilst I was there and agreed to become a club patron, they are known as Duwehn Town (Young Lonestar) FC.
Now I invite you to join me as club patrons, supporting the Duwehn Town football team with kit, equipment and means to maintain their pitch and get to matches.
Over time my aim is to create a subs based system similar to that which operates at community club level over here in the UK. So if anyone knows how this works and would like to support me on this element please get in touch!
My goal is to have them become self sustainable, for now the first step is to demonstrate my belief in them through the sponsorship and provision of kit and equipment.
Your patronage means a lot to me, I know many of you want to 'do something' but often don't know what. This is an opportunity to support a living breathing community project right at source.
