Lay Erin Cahoon Bangs to rest for Christmas

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Lisa.  I am a friend of Erin & Paul.  I am setting this page up, in behalf of Paul.  As you can imagine, he can't think clearly after the unexpected loss of his wife, Erin.

While many of you are out Christmas shopping, Paul is currently sitting at home waiting, for a Christmas Miracle.  It's a miracle wish a little different than most, at this time of year.  Paul is in desperate need of money so, he can pay the funeral home for the cremation so, his wife can be brought home to him, for Christmas. The following will explain their hardships & the financial strain of how everything came about.

Erin & Paul met in Junior High, in 1983.  Paul chased after Erin but, Erin wouldn't give him the time of day,  They lost contact throughout the years & ran into each other about 35 years later.  They were only dating a very short time before, Paul realized he never wanted to lose her, again.  And, he proposed.

Paul didn't have much to offer her but, his time because, for the past 15 years Paul has been battling a cancer called "CML" which, is Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. Which, has deemed him disabled & is surviving on a fixed income.  Erin knew there would be constant hardships & financial strain on their relationship between constant visits to hospitals in Boston & her being the financial backbone for the two of them.  She loved Paul enough to say "Yes" to his proposal. On October 15, 2016, they married.

As you can imagine, the expenses for her unexpected death are near impossible for Paul to come up with alone.  In addition to Paul trying to find ways to pay, Erin's Mom has been in the hospital for a few months, due to a broken hip.  The family has already been struggling to cover those medical costs.

For those of you who don't know what happened, on the tragic night of, December 1, 2019, I'll explain.  Paul had picked Erin up from work & on the way home she said she didn't feel good.  As they were driving she started convulsing & she had stopped breathing.  Paul immediately pulled the car over & administered CPR which, ultimately saved her.  Paul wanted to drive her straight to the Emergency Room but, since Erin had just got off work , she felt gross & just wanted to get home and get cleaned up first.  She seemed to be back to normal so, Paul complied.

Shortly after arriving home, Erin was in the bathroom for a few minutes.  It seemed too quiet & since Paul was already nervous from the experience in the car he called out her name and asked if she was ok. To which, she didn't reply.  He then, opened the door & found her drooling and convulsing.  He started to administer CPR & called 911.

The team of First Responders tried to revive her,  By the time, she arrived at the hospital she was unfortunately, declared brain dead.  She was hooked up to a breathing machine which, kept oxygen going to her organs until they could be recovered for transplant.  Erin was an organ donor & saved 3 lives!

There was no prior history of seizures and her passing is hard to understand and even harder to accept by all those who were lucky enough to have known her.  Erin was a hard worker and such a fun loving person to be around.  She was the type of person who could always get you to smile or laugh, on even your worst of days.

We are hoping you can find it in your heart to make a donation. Paul is not having any services because, of the cost. However, more than anything he just wants her to be back home with him for Christmas! The cost of cremation is not something he can afford without help.  We know Christmas time may work against funds & we understand if most cannot afford a large donation.  Anything will help. Please, don't feel discouraged if you can only donate a sum of $5.00 as, it's $5.00 closer to her coming home.

Your donation will help pay the costs of cremation & an urn.

Anything over the minimal amount we wish to raise will then be dedicated to helping Paul's bills that he's now facing alone & we would really love to be able to hold a memorial gathering, in her honor.  Those who knew her are finding it difficult not to have been able to say goodbye & honor her in the way, she should be honored.
