Update as of 3/30/2017:
We have been working endlessly with the Oakland police department and news stations to bring justice for Larry. We have received some new updates I would like to share.
First update,
Originally we were told Larry was working on his own R.V.. We have just been told and confirmed that Larry was being a good samaritan and was helping a friend of a friend with their R.V. He was staying in Tracy while visiting California. He came into Oakland to bring a tire for his friends R.V., who had a flat tire. Upon Larrys arrival they had mentioned they were having electrical problems. Larry offered to check it out for them when trouble struck immediately after.

On March 26th 2017 , A fatal hit and run left us without our loved one Larry Mendes taking him before his time at the young age of 50. He was born February 27th, 1967, the youngest of 3. He leaves behind his children, his sister and a large family that loved him dearly. The tragedy occurred while visiting his home state of California . While on one of his many travels visiting his family and friends it was a fatal hit and run that took him from us to soon.Larry was a free spirit that lived his life to the fullest. He never let anything get in his way or stop him from fulfilling his happiness. He was a kid at heart, a drifter, a lover, a father, a brother and friend to so many. He loved his kids very much and always spoke proudly of them. They were his beat and drum.We always said Larry had 9 lives because he was a dare devil and lived on the edge. He always strived to have fun, to make you smile and he was never without his sense of humor even in the most stressful situations, he always managed to crack a joke. He was the "wild child" of the three, but always had an open heart for anyone. Larry was a operating engineer by trade up until an atv accident several years back which left him on permanent disability. He was part of the union and we were told he should have some benefits to help with this as well. We are following up with them and trying to find his paperwork. We are doing everything we can, coming together for Larry and hope the person is found as soon as possible. We will not have closure for this tragedy until then, so please help share our story so that justice is served. Larry's sister Lori, while coping with this devastating loss is doing all she can to manage all his arrangements with the help from his eldest child and the family. All funds will be used to help with anything needed to ensure all the services needed are covered. We have no details for services yet as we have been told Larry's wishes were to be cremated so we will let everyone know soon. We will also keep everyone informed with any major updates we are given by investigators.
This is such a tragic loss, leaving so many devastated and in shock. Thank you for your time and consideration, our family is truly thankful from the bottom of our hearts.

We had to recently up the goal amount due to unseen expenses adding up very quickly.
We want to thank everyone for the outpouring support and the blessings coming in. This is a very rough time for many and all your help is very much appreciated.
God bless you all
