I own PowerSkills Training & Development, Inc. (www.yourpowerskills.com) and am 100% committed to providing and supporting educational, employment and developmental opportunities to professionals, students and individuals who simply desire to advance and learn in life.
I visited Laos for the first time in 2016. I had the privilege of volunteering at a few NPO's/NGO's that that focused on education of Laotian youth, conservation of Laotian elephants, and cultivation of Laotian economic opportunities for young people and low-income families. In Laos I met an entire population of young people who crave education, employment and entrepreneurial opportunities but have few resources to build upon.
This fund is established to provide a few young, intelligent and determined entrepreneurs with seed money to develop:
1) bamboo farms for replenishable wood supplies for craftsmanship,
2) orchards for sustainable and local sale food production, and
3) seize educational opportunities after high school in order to learn skills in English language studies, small business development, non-profit project development, and tourism
A small group (10-15) female and male young adults will directly benefit from donations. Females in particular, will benefit; as will Hmong students. Females in Laos, as well as the Hmong population, are not afforded the opportunities in education or employment that males and the majority Laotian cultural population are assured. This program will ensure that students in general, and females and Hmong in particular, are afforded access to unique educational opportunities through webinars on leadership, entrepreneurialism and management skills; as well as in-country workshops and seed money( in the form of stipends) to develop business and community development ideas.
The funds are needed by October 2019 so that the in-country workshop support can occur and seed money/stipends can be offered to young people who demonstrate initiative, commitments to continued education, development of actual plans, and leadership.
PowerSkills has already committed to offer free webinars to students in classrooms in Luang Prabang on topics that are never offered to students in Laotian schools (e.g., leadership, community responsibility, entrepreneurialism, volunteerism, management) in order to inspire, educate and ready them to leap ahead in education and employment; but PowerSkills (and I - Bob Schout) cannot do it alone. We have finite resources to commit.
YOUR DONATION will ensure that small stipends can be offered to 5 students right away and that 5 days of in-country intensive education can be provided by trained teaching and coaching professionals. PowerSkills will pay for all travel to the teachers and will host webinars that can now be streamed to a few Laotian classrooms. We need YOUR HELP to do the rest.
