Lake Malawi Medical Project 2020

Donation protected
I'm returning to Malawi!

In summer 2017 I went to Malawi with @NaturallyAfricaVolunteers, a registered UK Charity.
I was enrolled in the Medical Program which offers Wound care, HIV/AIDS and Malaria Prevention and Awareness. I also had the chance to conduct training sessions to groups of local volunteers enrolled in a home-based care government-sponsored program.

Challenge
In June 2018, Malawi was ranked 3rd poorest country in the world. This is one of the many reasons why I decided to dedicate some of my time besides my Biomedical Sciences studies to volunteer in Africa.

Long-Term Impact
I am willing to return to Malawi in July 2020 to follow the growth of the Charity and of the local volunteers enrolled in the home-based care program.
Half of the money raised will be donated to the Charity and will be used to buy Medical supplies, which are scarce. The other half will be used to finance the volunteer program fee I have to pay.

While volunteering I have noticed that the wound care was performed on children who don't go to school.
In Malawi, schools require that students wear a uniform they have purchased themselves. Students who don't have uniforms are denied the opportunity to go to school.
For the cost of 11£ per uniform, I will also donate some of the money to provide Malawian students with school uniforms.
This will decrease the likelihood of them injuring themselves outdoors and developing severe Skin Fungal Infections.

Thank you for your kind support.
