Helping a homeless friend

A friend of mine has had it rough.  He's currently homeless and has no warm place to sleep.  I hardly know the guy (we know each other on Facebook), but I can't stand by and let him live like this without helping him.  His family and friends have turned away from him, and he's suffering from depression, and this was before he had nowhere to go.

I don't know what this could be used for or how I can get it to him, but I will find a way.  Even if it's just to make sure he can rent a motel room, or buy food, or just get himself a warm blanket until someone he knows can make arrangements, please give what you can.  He's in a part of the country that is under a huge cold snap, so the nights will be down below 0.  

This person has been a supportive and encouraging voice for me when I needed it.  I want to do something for him in return.  If you can give even a little bit, I would be so grateful.  And I guarantee he will be too.
