KSS Quebec Cultural Trip

We are the French 11 class of Kumsheen Secondary School. K.S.S is a very small school in a rural, impoverished village in British Columbia, Canada. Our student population is over 90% Aboriginal in a school of 52 students.
We are fundraising money for a cultural trip to Quebec for our French 11 class, where we will be experiencing the Quebecois culture and practicing our newly found French language skills in a casual day to day setting where French is more commonly spoken than here in our rural community.
Donations will be used to help subsidize our flight and accommodation expenses. Our school district has generously offered up a portion of our fundraising goal, however we need your help to make this trip a reality. In addition to flight and accommodation, your donation will help us experience Quebec culture and gain a further understanding of Canada’s francophone history, as well as its contributions to our country. Through your donations, we will be able to visit the first European settlements in modern Canada, as well as museums that will give us insight into the relationships between the early French settlers and the First Peoples that inhabited the region at the time of contact. Your donations will not only enrich our experience as French 11 students, but will also move us one step closer towards our dreams of post-secondary eligibility.
Since our trip is set for February 2016 we would greatly appreciate your donation by the end of January 2016 to ensure that our accommodation and flights are secured.
Opportunities like this in our community are scarce, so a trip to one of Canada’s most historical and cultural provinces would be an incredible and beneficial experience. Additionally, French as a second language is smiled upon by most universities, but, whereas most high schools have the luxury of patient, steady classes, our schedule is much more condensed.
We will be extremely thankful for every donation that brings us closer to our goal. MERCI!
