Holland's Top Surgery Fund
Beschermde donatie
Hey there, I'm Holland, a pre-op androgynous genderqueer person. I'm raising money to cover the cost of copay for my top surgery in Portland, OR. The total cost of surgery was quoted at $10,500, which I am required by my insurance to pay 20% out of pocket. A quick calculation says that's $2,100. While I wish I could swing this no problem, it's kind of a lot! -- I teach math for an after-school program, which isn't exactly a fancy job.
Now, here's the tricky part. This is a little time-sensitive. I'm more than likely moving out of state come July or August, but the soonest I can schedule my surgery (according to the person at the office today) is June, unless someone cancels. (She didn't say that last part, but I'm hoping I can get on some sort of early waitlist!) So if I can get surgery by June, I'd want funds by about then.
However, if I don't have sufficient funds by then, or I'm unable to schedule my surgery prior to my move, I will reevaluate how much I need as insurance changes and choice of surgeon dictates. I figure if I can't get surgery in Oregon, I may as well go with Medalie or Garramone, the latter of whom does not take insurance. Thus I will need to factor in travel costs as well. We'll see.
For now, I've set my goal at $2,500 to cover the surgery, any unexpected expenses, and some scar cream (I've heard that helps?). I've been binding for two years which is super uncomfortable and I'm dreading another summer of it. I just want to be free of the flesh blobs attached to me and feel at home in an androgynous body. If you could help me out a bit I'd really appreciate it, as you'd be helping me become, well, me. This is a life changing experience and I simply can't wait much longer without imploding.
