Klineline Kids Fishing is a two day event held each year on the second weekend in April. Over a two day period, over 11,000 people gather at Salmon Creek Park/Klineline Pond in Vancouver, WA. to help children between ages 5 and 14 experience fishing, playing outside, and learning about water safety.
In 2012 we served 2400 kids. In 2015 we served over 2900 kids. No child is ever turned away. This event is wildly popular and we anticipate 3400 kids in the near future. In addition we help five other kids fishing groups by providing fishing rods and volunteers.
Our event is in jeopardy. We garner donations and grants to buy the fishing rods & reels, terminal gear, and worms. Those grant fund requests were cut in half this year. In addition, we need to replace the fish nets. The nets have been patched and repaired. They don't last forever. They are getting old. And we've been told that the folks who originally bought the nets will not replace them.
That's where you come in. If you've ever attended our event, you know
how wildly popular it is with the community. People travel from all over Oregon and Washington to share this event with their kids and grandkids. In 2015 we had folks travel from as far away as Astoria, Oregon and Duvall, Washington.
We hope to raise $60,000 thru Go Fund Me. The money raised will help us buy 5000 fishing rods each year for the next two years, and will replace the fish nets that hold the hatchery trout up close to the bank so the kids have more success with fishing.
