Klamath Falls Spandex Mafia Project

One cycle-phobic argument circulating around town (and the web) is that the new protected bike lane in Klamath Falls will negatively impact businesses located along Oregon Ave. To my knowledge there is really no evidence to suggest this kind of effect is real. In fact, designs and features that slow vehicle traffic and increase pedestrian traffic actually benefit businesses because pedestrians are more likely to spontaneously stop into a business.

The purpose of this fund is to generate some goodwill between those of us who are pro-bike lane and the businesses and  residents along Oregon Ave. The fund monies will be used to purchase $10 & $20 gift certificates for restaurants along Oregon Ave. We will go door to door giving out these gift certs to residents who live within walking/biking distance of the bike lane.

If we can raise $1000, we will give out approx 75 gift certificates in total.

FYI: This effort will be combined with other events & activities along the protected bike lane, such as litter clean-up and casual group rides.
