As a parent of children who attend daycare, I noticed that some kids were "acting up" more than others and quietly asked if there maybe a reason why. It turns out that some of these kids see and experience situations that no little kid should... and it's not always anyones fault. Understandably, at such a young age they struggle to make sense of it all and act out.
I thought about this and decided these young boys need a safe place to vent their frustrations and let go of anger. It also occured to me that these little men (ages 3-8) would really benefit from more positive male role models in their life. I discussed it with a friend and colleague and he agreed whole heartedly...... so we came up wiht Kids FUNctional Fitness.
We are looking to provide a "by donation" fitness class based on a martial arts style of traning for young children who are experiencing struggles in their life.
We are fundraising to cover all of the expneses that come with providing a program of this nature. We need equipment, rental space, insurances, licencing cost plus all and any other costs that we will encounter along the way.
We are based in the lower mainland and all funds go towards supporting local children and their families.
We are NOT fundraising to cover the cost of the trainer(s) who will be volunteering their time. And we will not be using fundraising to pay for any "wages or salary" expenses. All funds raised through this account will be put into programing for the children.
We're looking to start offering classes this fall and need to raise funds by the end of August to do this.
Martial arts is a wonderful way to give these kids the safe place they need to express their emotions, instil discepline and have access to some wonderful male role models at the same time.
If you agree that this is a worthwile cause and would benefit our young children we would love for you to donate and share our story to others.
