Kids Saving the Rainforest was started by two 9 year old girls in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica. Since 1999 KSTR has grown to be an international organization that receives volunteers from all over the world! Our Rescue Center and Sanctuary rescues on average 200 animals each year. As you can imagine monkeys and sloths aren't paying customers, so we have to rely on the generosity and kindness of like minded people who want to make a difference and save the tropcial rainforest of Costa Rica.

Currently we are home to 43 resident animals who live in our sanctuary and 21 animals that are candidates for release.
We are the only wildlife rescue center located within the Central Pacific Coast.
That is why we are asking very humbly that you consider donating to our cause! No donation is too small and every penny goes towards caring for the animals!

This is a video of one of our kinkajous enjoying some enrichment made by our awesome day volunteers!

We started the day with an empty cage, so we could add all new & fresh enrichment. We know how much better a captive animals life can be with some mental stimulation; no one wants to live in an empty room!

So the volunteers always bring incredible creative ideas and help - and they began making some challenging meals for all of our sanctuary animals.

We collected leaves, flowers and fruits from our site and encouraged everyone to make some toys that were as weird as possible! If a person could get into the food too easily, so could an animal! We had some peanut packets, foraging boxes and this upturned water bottle with a small hole in the lid. This was filled with smoothie which replicated how kinkajous hang by their tails when they eat in the wild!

We at Kids Saving The Rainforest greatly value the help of people who come and take our tours and volunteer with us, as it is the only way we stay open! By helping us you’re securing the animals future and doing something truly amazing! So a huge thank you to you from all the staff, volunteers and of course the animals!

This is an educational post to help educate the community to not to SHOOT at birds and TO NOT have wildlife as pets.

Kids Saving the Rainforest received a scarlet macaw that was shot, the x-rays show he needs surgery and may not ever be able to live in the wild again. He has been named Garlic because he came in a garlic box.

This should NEVER EVER happen to wildlife.

Grubby the two toed sloth and Bean the anteater are both currently sharing a football field space of natural land in boot camp before being released! We had a quick moment of beauty when they both shared a jungle gym together, it’s not common for these two animals to interact but they can live in close quarters with never bothering each other at all. The great circle of life!
Please help us take care of more animals are by donating to our campaign
