Get Kids In Air Conditioning!

This is Melissa. She is one of dozens of single mothers in Central Florida who has been affected by Hurricane Irma in what I'm calling the 'in between'.  

She's out of power with no hope of it getting back on anytime soon, but her particular county is NOT considered a disaster zone by FEMA which means she can't get any financial help from the agency...she's 'in between'.

She and her baby are HOT in their Florida home and are having to go from house to house.  It's stressful and it's overwhelming for a Mom just trying to make ends meet as is.  

My name is Laura (profile pic) and I run a FB page and soon to be non-profit called 'Face of a Feminist'.  My goal is to 'empower women and girls' by posting inspiring videos every Wednesday.  

BUT, I've put the videos on hold for a bit since Irma hit.  All I want to do now is help women get their babies and children back into the cold air conditioning and off peoples' couches.  Some of the babies are even really sick and need nebulizers to breathe better.  HOT homes and humidity is NOT good for them.

I'm doing all the hotel bookings myself so I can assure you I won't be just handing cash over to strangers.  I am personally meeting with and choosing who is getting the help.

Hurricane Irma displaced me and my family as well so I know how stressful it is being out of electricity and having to also be on Mom duty and pay bills and appear to be strong for your kids.

I just want to help other Moms...specifically single ones who have no spouse to lean on, no family around who has power and don't have the funds to get into a hotel room on their own like I did.

I've placed several families in hotels already but my personal funds are quickly dwindling and the power could be out for weeks.  Not to mention the groceries and everything else they'll need when they get back home.  

Let's help out other women who just need that little extra support.  Anything you can give is so appreciated.

I'm finding rooms for about $100 a night to give you perspective.
