Help Poor Children in Bangladesh

Donation protected
Hello Everyone! I am a student attending George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. I'm  majoring in Global Affairs with a concentration in International Development and my minor is Public Health.

I hope you all are having a wonderful summer! For those celebrating Ramadan I hope your first day of fasting is going smoothly. It’s that time of the year again! Last year I did a fundraiser to raise money to purchase clothes for poor underprivileged children in Bangladesh for Eid-ul-Fitr.

I was successfully able to raise funds well over my goal of 1,000 dollars through collaborative efforts from each and every one of you. Whether you chose to show support through donating money, sharing the fundraising link on your social media account or even spreading the news by mouth every bit helped tremendously. I had gone into this project with an open mind, without having any particular expectations. However, I certainly had no idea how massive the impact would be on those who would be served. I had never even imagined that I would receive the outpour of support that you all have shown me for which I am sincerely thankful.

Once again, I am asking for your support this year to help me raise funds for impoverished children living in the slums of Bangladesh. As many of you may already be aware, Bangladesh is one of the poorest nations in the world and also the most densely populated. It faces numerous environmental issues such as the depletion of natural resources due to overpopulation, water scarcity and contaminated drinking water, natural disasters, and flooding. Bangladesh currently has a population over 156 million and over 30 percent of the people live below the poverty line. Over 33 million children in Bangladesh live in poverty. They lack basic necessities such as clean water, food, clothing and proper shelter. Due to living under dire conditions many children and their families do not have the money or access to education and schooling. They lack access to proper healthcare. Many have to go out and find work to support their families.

Although we may not be able to bring ease to the countless hardships faced by those living in poverty we can at least do something to bring a smile to their faces even if it is for just one day. All of the money raised will go towards purchasing clothing for children living in slums to wear on the holiday of Eid. Every bit of donation, big or small will help vastly.

We often spend money on things that are not needs, but rather wants. We’ll often purchase a product or spend money on a service simply because it is a trend and we don’t want to be left behind. We’ll even spend money on something just because it looks nice. Why not give a few of your extra change towards helping an incredible cause? We as a society have a responsibility to help those less fortunate than us. Why not start by contributing to this fundraiser for helping children?

A huge thank you in advance to those offering their support and to anyone and everyone who took time out of their day to even take a moment to read this. I genuinely hope you will consider donating and sharing the link. Please spread the news to your family and friends if possible. Last year we raised over 94,000 BDT which helped hundreds of children receive new clothes for Eid! We have the opportunity to wear new clothes many times a year. Let’s give a little to help a child do the same! It is the month of Ramadan! The month for charity! The month to give!

Ramadan Mubarak!

Thank you!
