Berlin Marathon - UCSF Cancer Ctr.

Donation protected
I'm about to run my first marathon and I'm nervous as hell... will I finish?  Will I hit the wall?  Why am I doing this?  I've never run 26 miles.

And then I think of the real battles waged by family and friends:  our brother lost to melanoma, a dear friend kicking the butt of invasive ductal carcinoma, a college friend  stomping all over lymphoma, three friends who've dealt with and conquered prostate cancer.

My battle seems lame.   So I'm running the Berlin Marathon for the Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center .  They're conducting the studies that will lead to new and improved treatments and therapies  and are ranked 7th among the nation's hospitals for cancer care and 1st among California cancer-care providers by U.S. News & World Report.

The race is Sunday, September 25th.  I got my entry through lottery placement so I don't have to fundraise - but I want to.  When I hit that "wall" I'll be thinking of my brother and all my friends who have fought on - and that wall will crumble.  Thank you for your support and please share!   Ken
