Domestic Violence Awareness Event

In the United States, domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women.
1 in every 4 women you know and 1 in every 3 college women you know are affected by domestic violence.
In 1992, Alpha Chi Omega officially selected domestic violence awareness and education as its national philanthropy. Alpha Chi Omega was the first American women’s fraternity to tackle the problems of domestic violence head-on, not just by assisting victims but also by educating its members about its relevance and severity.
Alpha Chi Omega at Villanova takes our philanthropic endeavors very seriously and we truly understand how important the benefits of our philanthropy are. Not only do our sisters help to unmask the truth of domestic violence, we also help those that have fallen victim to it.
October is domestic violence awareness month and we use our fall semester here at Villanova to raise awareness through our DVA week events that include Greek Life and Villanova students.
We have a goal that we need help reaching.
In an effort to spread awareness and teach Villanova students the importance of unmasking the truth behind domestic violence we want to fund a program called Kristin's Story.
This inspirational and moving program connected to our national foundation includes two personal accounts of the impact of domestic violence. Kristin's Story is a mother's account of her daughter's rape and subsequent suicide, juxtaposed to a young woman speaking on her own behalf about her own experience with domestic violence.
Please help us raise enough money to allow us to bring this program to the Villanova Community and help us to ignite change and promote healthy relationships.
Love shouldn't hurt.
Please join Alpha Chi Omega at Villanova University at spreading this important message.
