Update :

It is my last day at work, I will be taking leave to be home and care for Justin. It will be very tight financially but my only concern is being home with Justin now and spending valuable time with him.

We are also moving to a new house, bigger with more accessibility for him. One thing that we thought we would able to do is take him home ourselves, wheelchair to car or accessible taxi. This will not be possible. We will need to use a patient transfer service and it is not covered. We still need to raise some money to hopefully cover the costs of this transfer, which is around $300-$500. All of the money so far has gone to food for Justin, transportation, hospital parking and costs, extra medical expenses not covered by the province, including a special nurse at times for Justin's foot care. (he's diabetic) and additional moving costs.

Justin is happy about coming home, where he is much more comfortable.

It truly warms my heart the kindness that people have shown to us. We appreciate all the support we received and continue to receive. <3

------

In October 2016, Justin (23) was diagnosed with Anaplastic Astrocytoma. That moment changed our lives forever. As a mother it is my worst nightmare come true. They told us it was non-operable and that statistically Justin would eventually succumb to this nasty disease.  Justin NEVER stopped fighting and continues to fight. We have fought alongside him everyday. Justin has always been positive and to those of you who know him his presence is electric, he can make anyone laugh and he is fiercely loyal to the ones he loves.

My son is a warrior, the strongest person I have ever met.  It has been a very tough battle for him. Most of the medication causes another symptom and so on. He is diabetic now, from the steroid. He has pulmonary embolisms from the chemo. He contracted necrotizing fasciitis. He had to have two brain surgeries, one to install a shunt because he had brain swelling. 6 weeks radiation, year of chemo.

And now the most current things is he is starting to lose his memory and become confused.  This is the toughest one for our family and extremely hard to write about.

Justin has been in and out of hospital and right now he is at Elizabeth Bruyere. Now the decision has been made to stop the treatment and take him home.

All I can say is that the continued support for people is something I will never forget, the kindness people have shown, the care.

I personally want to thank my children, Jenni, Jacob and Josh, we are a team, we are strong and I am so proud of you for everything.
