Deshawn Dye has been incarcerated for more than half of his life for an accident he caused when he was only 17 years old.  As a teenager, he was a handed the daunting sentence of 15 to life in an adult prison. After serving 18 years, Deshawn is now being held indefinitely. The legal community and corrections experts alike now view life sentencing for minors as not only ineffective but counter-productive to the supposed rehabilitative purpose of the juvenile justice system. That developing understanding is reflected in the recent Supreme Court decisions making it extremely difficult to  incarcerate a young person for the rest of his life. Deshawn has been away from his life long enough; it is time for him to come home.

A group of CUNY School of Law students have connected with FedFam4Life  advocates to work with Deshawn and help ensure his freedom. We have found a lawyer ready to fight for Deshawn, and are now working to raise the funds so he can access the legal advocacy necessary to bring him back to his family and his community.

We so appreciate whatever you can contribute to help bring Deshawn home!

Thank you for your continued support. During the holidays please consider donating to our fight for freedom. Deshawn Dye has spent 19 Christmas away from his family. We are hoping to reunite him with them so that he does not have to spend the rest of his life in prison. With a small donation of $10 to $15 you can help us reunite him with his family and friends.

Juvenile Justice is such a very important topic. Please watch this video with Michael K. Williams. Deshawn has spent half his life in prison sentenced at the age of 18 years old. You can help us literally save this young man's life. Thank you!!!!

Thank you all so much for your support thus far, we are writing to ask you to continue pushing with us! We are excited to announce that thanks to your help, we have retained Kimberly Kendall Corral, one of the top defense attorneys in Cleveland, for Deshawn's case. We are grateful for Ms. Corral not only because of her expertise, but because she understands the grassroots nature of this campaign.

This is where your continuing support is greatly needed! We have secured her retainer, and now we need to raise money to pay her fee. Please continue sharing this GoFundMe with whomever you can.

We are feeling inspired by teamwork efforts this week because of the release of Valentino Dixon. A group of people including students from Georgetown University were able to get him released from prison after serving 27 years. Let's work together to make this happen for Deshawn too!

Peace and blessings
