June was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma lung cancer in November 2015. PET scan also revealed an area of concern to the group of lymph nodes in her chest. Before any surgery could be done a biopsy had to be taken to make sure it had not spread to the lymph nodes. After 2 biopsies from different consultants, tests came back, non malignant.
Surgery was quickly booked for January 2016 where she had 2/3 of her Lung removed.
March 2016 June had her 1st CT scan since her operation. On this CT scan doctors could see that there were an area of concern within the chest lymph nodes. June was then informed that, in the consultants opinion, by looking at the scan, cancer had returned.
This was, as you can expect, a devastating blow to her and the whole of her family. Biopsies were needed to confirm the consultants suspicion, and so an appointment was made at the Calderdale Royal Hospital.
Biopsy results were non malignant.
Unsatisfied by the findings, as they conflicted with the scan, June was sent to Huddersfield Royal infirmary for another biopsy.
Biopsy results were non malignant.
Still, just to make sure, June was sent for another biopsy in St James Hospital in Leeds.

So why are these nodes lighting up on scans to implicate the return?
Chemotherapy was started in July 2016. 3 sessions a month, 1 a week then a week off.
In September 2016 the chemo was stopped, as June's body want tolerating it. In effect, if she carried on, the chemo would kill her before the cancer would.
Radiotherapy has been declined because, if this area of concern is cancer, a nodule has formed in the remaining part of the lung, and radiotherapy can only target 1 of them.
So, after numerous biopsies, from 3 different hospitals, that all came back non malignant, June's consultant is still convinced it is cancer.
This doesn't make any sense to us and would like to send her for a private second opinion. Please help.
