Dear Family, Friends, and Wonderful People I am Yet to Meet,
I made the decision this past summer to follow my dream to become a veterinarian. I want to do meaningful work to make a positive contribution to the conservation and wellbeing of animals. More specifically, I would love to help wildlife in developing countries. I would like the opportunity to humbly ask for your support in my training and education to become a veterinarian.
When I was growing up, I always wanted to be a veterinarian, and I actually came to Guelph, enrolled in Zoology, with the intention of going to vet school. When I was studying at the University of Guelph, and started living in the environmental residence, my eyes were opened to the amazing work that was being done around the world to help the environment. I was very inspired to join the causes and changed my degree to International Development. I finished that degree in 2007 and have had the pleasure to work in many areas of the environmental field over the last 10 years. I had the pleasure of working in Waste Management and Recycling, Organic and Local Agriculture, and Solar Energy. I have been very grateful for these experiences and have really enjoyed them; however, about two years ago I started looking at what I really wanted to achieve in life. I gradually came to see that I wanted to return to my original life’s dream to become a veterinarian and heal animals.
I returned to the University of Guelph this past fall, taking prerequisite courses so that I may apply to veterinary school in the fall of 2016. It’s a lot of work, in fact, I put an average of 14 hours per day into my courses. I am very passionate about my studies. I am enrolled in five more courses which start on January 11th . I can't wait, I love learning about animals, and can do it all day!
Assisting me with the cost of this year's tuition ($7,000) is so crucial for me to continue my studies. I would be tremendously grateful for any help you can assist me with. Whether you can contribute $10, $1,000 or absolutely anywhere in between, it will be incredibly helpful and equally appreciated.
