Support for JR: Injured while on duty

Donation protected
Hello everyone, our friends name is Baltazar (J.R.), now 58 years old, spent his early years in Los Angeles and at 13 moved to Santa Rosa, NM, where he graduated from high school and started his law enforcement career with the Santa Rosa Police Department.

During the 1990s, J.R. was recruited by and served with the Guadalupe County Sheriff's Department and the Vaughn Police Department. In late 1999 J.R. became a Field Agent with the New Mexico State Gaming Board in Albuquerque. The following year, after his promotion to Sergeant/Detective, he moved to Lincoln County and led the opening of the state's Ruidoso Field Office, to serve Southern New Mexico (South of Interstate 40). In 2007, J.R. joined the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department, where he remains on a medical leave today.

On June 4th, 2016, J.R. was dispatched to Baca Campground, a remote County location. Upon his arrival, J.R. encountered and was attacked by two men. While defending himself and apprehending the men, J.R.'s right shoulder and upper arm were seriously injured.

J.R. continued to work for several months, hoping his injuries would heal, but ultimately, the unresolved injuries required significant surgery, and his doctors determined that he was no longer able to safely perform his law enforcement duties.

Modified service options are not available to J.R. at the Sheriff's Department, and his medical and workman's compensation benefits are nearly exhausted. After 38 years serving the citizens of New Mexico, J.R.'s service injuries are resulting in long-term medical and financial consequences.

Because J.R.'s work injuries prevent him from performing his normal law enforcement duties.

Funding for JR will insure he can financially support his family.

Please consider helping J.R. and his family by making a contribution, no matter how small.
