Veteran without a pension

My name is Capt Pamela Smith BScN, RN. Soon I will be a former member of the Canadian Armed Forces. I am a nurse, I became a civilian nurse who funded her own education as a single parent and who joined the military as an experienced nurse in August of 2006.
My goal was to serve my country and support my military brothers and sisters in arms. I met that goal, however I was injured while doing so. My injury occurred during my tour of duty in Afghanistan from 2009-2010. I have received a General Campaign Star as redognition of my service to Canada.
I am no longer employable as per the Canadian Armed Forces and will be medically released as of 1 February 2016. I was told today, as a result of falling short of 10 years of military service by five months I am not entitled to a pension, dental care and will have no money to pay my bills or to help me move forward in life at that time. Not many of us are ready to retire disabled at 47 years of age.
As a result my need for financial assistance is urgent as the bank does not take IOUs. I will be standing in the food bank line. I will post pictures when I do so. I am a single parent so this not only affects me, it affects my family.
The 22+ year career I built as a nurse has come to an end as a result of my injury. I am not able to walk out the door and work as a civilian nurse ever again. This is the most helpless and hopeless I have ever felt in my adult life. Your assistance will make me feel as though my sacrifices made a difference to Canadians and my country. That you care for me as much as I care for my fellow Canadians. I'd be thankful for the rest of my life for your generosity and kindness.
