Bishop Daniel has been pastoring the south Rocky Mount area for nearly 7 years. The focus of his church at Greater Joy is to simply meet the needs of the people, including spiritually, emotionally, and physically.

Bishop attended a sleep out for homelessness for the first time on November 21, 2013. He heard the statistics that Mr. Chris Battle of United Community Ministries presented that evening.  There were 1,000 homeless people in the city of Rocky Mount and 600 were children. This hurt his heart and he joined forces with UCM to begin a journey of eliminating homelessness in our city.

On November 13, 2014 Bishop Daniel was informed of a man and a woman sleeping on the porch of his church in 30 degree weather. He immediately began to make calls to city leaders, non profit organizations, and friends. It was his goal to open the doors of his fellowship hall for the homeless during the months of November to March. Not only to provide shelter but to give one meal, blankets and a helping hand.  With the support of his church family he opened on November 17, 2014 from 10pm to 7am with volunteers on staff, 7 days a week.

This effort needs funding to sustain the vision and purpose to be served in the community efficiently. We need blankets, cots, paper products, toiletries and most importantly, funding for utilities, staffing, and food.

All donations are recognized as charitable contributions. We thank you in advance for your attention to our cause and your support as we serve our community.
