John Dolan Sensory Playground: “A Place where everyone can play”
John Dolan School in Saskatoon serves students ages 3 to 22 with special needs. It offers quality programming, one-of-a-kind indoor facilities and a remarkable, caring staff.
What John Dolan School does not have is an accessible outdoor playground. The existing “playground” (an old swing set) is neither accessible nor safe.
We need a place where students can experience the joy of play with friends, family, classmates and neighbours—a place where they can be part of the fun instead of watching from the sidelines.
The John Dolan Parent Council is a small group of parents dedicated to raising funds for Saskatchewan’s first inclusive sensory playground. The John Dolan Outdoor Sensory Playground will provide a barrier-free, fun, safe environment for children, youth and adults.
With over 80% of our students in wheelchairs or needing walking assistance, our playground will be significantly different from any other playground in Saskatoon.
