Joe Loughnane for Galway City Council

Well, thanks for clicking in! My name is Joe Loughnane and I am running in the local elections in May. I'll be representing People Before Profit in the Galway City Central ward.  I'm 32, born and raised in Galway City where I was university educated and where I currently work. This fundraiser will be used to help the election campaign that is currently ongoing. I hugely appreciate your support like, I genuinely do. Here's a wee bit about me: I am the Chairperson of the Galway Anti Racism Network -  a community group I founded in April 2016. I am also a founding member of Galway Pro Choice  and I led canvasses across the east side of the city for the Repeal referendum. I am a community representative on the Galway City Council Joint Policing Committee and I sit on the secretariat for the city’s PPN – the Galway City Community Network.  I was highly active as a student campaigner in NUI Galway - coordinating numerous successful progressive referenda campaigns and convening organisations  that were committed to highlighting the devastating impacts of the recession on young people – issues like mental health, precarious work, unpaid internships etc. I am the Galway spokesperson for both the National Homeless and Housing Coalition and the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign.  Why should you help fund me? The party I represent is one of the smaller ones in this country. Our organisation in Galway is almost entirely funded through events like Table Quizzes and gigs and with membership subscriptions. I will be organising events to help fund the campaign over the coming months but I felt it necessary to have an online appeal for supporters to give when they can. What does a donation do? €5 would fund a Facebook advert to promote a video we're planning on Galway’s public services. €10 would print a stack of leaflets targeting the houses in Bohermore. €15 would help cover the public transport costs of a few volunteers crossing the city to help with canvassing. €20 would sort a hape of corriboard posters advertising a public meeting in Westside. €50 would go towards the fee for hiring an artist or musician to give an hour or two of their time to the campaign... There is a limited period of time we have to push our message. My party wouldn't have the finances to fund over 60 separate local election campaigns. That's why I must come to you - our supporters. Any digout is hugely appreciated and would be accounted for.
