Seeking help for a friend in crisis.
My friend Iris 5 years ago was working in the mines in Cloncurry and on a good income.
Then her son David injured his back and she left work to return to Brisbane to look after him. David also suffered a blood disorder involving chemo medication and blood thinners.
No sooner had she returned then her daughter Linda had a stroke at age 35. She was tied then looking after both her daughter and her son.
She could not work and all her saving went to getting her daughter back on her feet and helping her son.
Unfortunately David’s pain from his back prevented him from working and he slipped into petty theft to gain funds to help him cope with the pain.
Over the next three years Iris struggled to make ends meet. The property she bought in Cloncurry and had rented out originally to mine workers became vacant due to mine closures and Iris got behind in council rates and repayment on the mortgage.
Her son David was now in trouble with the police and in April this year was taken into Custody.
On the 10th June Iris was involved in a car accident being shunted from the back by a car going at 80k’s while she was stopped in queuing traffic. She suffered a broken hand and severe bruising to her back and whiplash.
Due to the hand injury she was unable to work for several weeks and then David, on the 10th of July suffered a massive stroke leaving him paralysed on the right side.
He seemed to be improving slightly during the first week
but on the 20th of July he had a brain bleed and passed away on the 22nd of July.
All this has taken a great toll on Iris - emotionally and financially.
I am seeking some financial aid for Iris as she has numerous bills piling up- every cent will help her get back on her feet.
She has been so generous with her time, her friendship and help to so many people in the past that I hope to return my share of it by starting this Go Fund Me page for her.
