Jim Uzwack Medical & Family Funding
Cancer . . . Our dear friend, Jim Uzwack, knows all too well, the details of this disease. After 4 long and VERY tough years of fighting, all treatment options have been exhausted. He has been informed by his doctors that he is in his final days. There is a GREAT need for donations for Jimmy at this time (who is now at home in Hospice) and for his family.
Cancer has taken most everything he has worked so hard for! Only 55 years old, Jim will be leaving behind his loving wife Diane, who is now his full-time caregiver, his beautiful daughter, currently at college, and 2 adoring step-children who love him as their own Dad! Jim's deepest fear has been that he and Diane would end up homeless, as the cancer has forced them to sell most everything they have, and they are now in jeopardy of losing their home as well. I had the most wonderful, long talk with Jim 9 days ago, as he poured his heart out to me about his final wishes! He needs to know his wife Diane, and their children, will be ok.
Jim has spent his life sharing his compassionate heart with those around him. And just as well he has shared his exceptional skills as a highly talented and respected live sound engineer for a number of bands that were fortunate enough to have him behind the board, most notably, his beloved VICE.
It was many years ago that I met Jim. At that time he was only 20 yrs old, just starting out his career with VICE. We lovingly nicknamed him THE HUB, as he meticulously crafted the sound of VICE, which at that time carried them to the top of the Northeast Rock circuit! So loved by all the band and crew, and the many adoring fans that remain loyal to the legend of VICE to this day.... Jimmy’s attention to detail helped spawn the careers of singer extraordinaire, Rob Rock, and guitar virtuoso Chris Impelliteri.
In 2005, after almost 20 yrs apart, Jim was asked to man the soundboard one more time..... for a highly acclaimed, STANDING ROOM ONLY and out the door, VICE reunion! The magic in the air was once again, palpable!!!! Something you had to see and hear to fully experience!
Now it is time for ALL VICE fans, band, crew, friends AND compassionate strangers to give back to a man who has given his ALL for his band family, and his immediate family for whom he has provided for and loved so very much!!!
Lets do the best we can to send Jimmy home with peace and assurance, that the needs of his wife and children will be met by those of us who are able, during this difficult time.
