Jenn "Warrior" Whitney Fund

$11,375 of $5,000 goal

Last month Jenn was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. She will be receiving six-months of chemotherapy from now through February. The good news: this is a very curable cancer. The bad news: because Jenn is a teacher at a pre-school (aka germ factory) she must take anywhere from 1-6 months off from work to keep her immune sytem in tip-top shape. This campaign is to help the Whitneys stay above water during this time of lost income.

We all know Jenn is one tough bird and will absolutely make it through this. In case you were wondering...the doctor who installed her port took an extra 20 minutes to make sure he didn't mess up her chest tattoos. You would never know there was an incision!

Thank you for your support. This family knows the meaning of a dollar and appreciates you spreading your hard earned loot.

A message from Bren and Jenn:

“Friendship is the hardest thing in the world to explain. It's not something you learn in school. But if you haven't learned the meaning of friendship, you really haven't learned anything.” - Muhammad Ali

That quote is fitting in many different ways for the way Jenn and I have been feeling over the last week and a half. I've been racking my brain trying to find the words to describe the emotional rollercoaster that the last 10 days have been. The fact that Sonya set up the GoFundMe account with a goal of $5,000 and it went on to raise more than double the goal is one of the most overwhelming things I've ever watched unfold in my life. When Jenn was first diagnosed and people started offering help in any way possible, I kept saying to Jenn "wow...we really lucked out in the friends and family department." But it's really impossible for me to find the words to express just how lucky we feel we are to have so many kind people in our lives.

Seeing people donate who Jenn or I have known since we were young children...

People who we went to elementary school, Junior High or High School with who we haven't seen in many years...

People who we met during our time in California who we don't get to see or talk to that often...

People who neither of us even recognized the name...they just donated out of the sheer kindness of their heart.

Seeing messages on the social media sites I use to interact with listeners of my music...messages from young people saying they don't have deep pockets but they'll give what they can. Then shortly after seeing their name pop up on GoFundMe.

And the anonymous donations...we're stunned and speechless. So incredibly overwhelming.

That's why the quote above is so fitting for me. I feel like I've always been appreciative of my friendships with people, but I never realized just how much of an impact friendships have throughout the course of one's life. It's inspiring as hell. With so much awful stuff happening every hour of every day on this planet, seeing people band together to hold up and give strength to one of the most important people in my life makes me realize just how great people are. We truly have lucked out when it comes to friends and family.

Jenn has her 2nd chemo treatment on Friday. After that she has 10 more to go. We just want those that donated to know that we are incredibly grateful for what you all banded together and did. You've provided a sense of relief in the midst of a financially uncertain following 6 months. Please know that if you yourself ever run into a tough spot, you'll have at least two people there for you to help out in whatever way we can. We may not have deep pockets, but I just got an ice cream attachment for my Kitchenaid mixer...so there's that.

Much love...

Just got a text from Brendon expressing how completely overwhelmed he and Jenn are with reaching nearly half the goal in less than a day. Pretty sure some tears were shed. They send their massive gratitude.
