Jenn's Replacement Laptop

Donation protected
My name is Jenn, and as some of you know, I work from home as a freelance writer and editor, a job that enables me to help my family make ends meet as well as to homeschool my ten-year-old son, Hogan. I’m so grateful to be able to do so. Unfortunately, the laptop I use for work started to show signs of her age earlier this year, and is now on her very last breaths. She shuts down without warning, and then won’t power up again, and I’ve lost a frightful amount of work because of it.

Despite her recent, lackluster performance, she is a most beloved laptop. My son uses her for schoolwork, and to watch Lego movies.

My greyhounds use her as a pillow.

Unfortunately her time has come, and she’s going to leave me sooner than later. I started putting aside some money earlier in the year for a replacement, but in February, a fall down some steps in my home left me with a broken ankle and a pile of medical bills. In August, what was meant to be a quick, outpatient surgery to remove a cyst on my right ovary revealed significant issues with both my ovaries as well as my uterus, and I’ll be undergoing a hysterectomy later this month. I’m so fortunate to have insurance that will lower the costs of the surgery, but those costs will still be in the thousands of dollars.

This has left me in the tenuous and rotten situation of needing to pick up extra work to help pay for surgery, while needing a new laptop to enable me to do that work. And as much as I wish I didn’t need help, I do. I’m hoping to raise the better part of $1300 to purchase a refurbished Macbook as well as Microsoft Word, which I use for all my editing work.

If I were, by chance, to raise any additional funds, I would put those towards upcoming medical bills that will stem from my hysterectomy. Any help you can give will be received with more gratitude than you can imagine, and I promise to pay your good energy forward as often and as much as I possibly can. Thank you so very, very much.

As a small measure of my gratitude, I hope you'll accept and enjoy this novella called GEMINI, about a down on her luck superhero and the shenanigans she gets up to in a city called Smokesburg. GEMINI: a novella
