Jennifer is a fun-loving, upbeat Northfield mom of 3 great kids. She is know to all the kids as Coach Jenn of the Northfield Cardinals Cheer squad. She is a hard-working, full-time hairdresser at Reflections Salon and Spa and a single mom who does everything she can for her kids.
Jenn finally decided to undergo surgery for the chronic pain she has been in for over a year due to having degenerative disc disease in her neck. On January 17th, 2017, under Rothman care, she went in for surgery to have a disc replacement in her neck.
We all thought surgery went well until a few weeks later her neck pain came back. She started physical therapy but the pain continued and wasn't easing up.She went back to her doctor and was explaining to him nothing relieved the constant pain she was in. He reassured her it was just healing and would eventually stop.
Jenn went back to work, back to being a mom and upped her title from Cheer coach to cheer commissioner, all the while dealing with chronic pain and not knowing how to relieve it.
She finally could not take it any longer and went back to her doctor knowing something was not right. She had numbness down her neck and into her arm and wasn't sure why?
The doctor did an MRI of Friday the 12th of May and on Mother's Day, that Sunday, her doctor called her to explain she would need to go in for emergency surgery the next day to get the disc out of her neck.
Her body was rejecting the disc because of the type of metal that was used during surgery. They had to get it out as soon as possible.
The new procedure they are doing will entail taking bone from Jenn's hip and replacing the disc with her own bone and fusing it together.
She is undergoing surgery today and will not be able to work again for at least a month.We are hoping for everyone to come together and help Jenn get through the next month with no worries.
