Heat Our Food Pantry

Tax deductible
It was sort of a mini miracle how we came to even have this food pantry. I was asked to drive the truck to pick up food pickup for our local soup kitchen. (They are few and far between where we live.)

I picked up 1200 pounds of Purdue chicken that day. When I returned to the soup kitchen they were delighted with the 'food run' and took what they needed.....all of 50 lbs of the chicken. I was told to redistribute the rest!

Not knowing what to do with 1150 pounds of chicken I called home and asked my wife if she knew of anyone who needed food. Well, there are more folks out there than you would think that are down and out.

Meanwhile I stopped at Lowes on way home and bought a stand up freezer. That day we started our own food pantry at our Campground- the 'Jesus is Lord Family campground.' That was four years ago, and now the Soup kitchen delivers the food directly to our camp every Monday. We now have a small team of volunteers who make food boxes for redistribution every Monday. We help about 30 families and individuals per week in addition to supplementing other food pantries when we receive a large quantity in the 'food run' delivery.

We are a regular family hoping to help others as best we can, and glorify God in the process. The Food pantry ministry just happened organically with little effort on our part...that's why we know it was a God thing!

We can use heat in the food pantry which is homed in an unheated barn that doubles as our camp bath- house. (See Pic) We live in upstate NY. It was 8 degrees here the other night.

$5000.00 should get us going with setting up the heater, propane and a propane tank. We will have to lower the ceiling of the barn with greenhouse plastic and set up a propane garage heater. Someone already donated a used Modine garage heater for this project. It needs to be converted from natural gas to propane and serviced to check for its condition and safety.

Tax receipts can be given through our 501c3 ministry- named Malachi 2:15 Family Ministry. My wife and I also give parenting seminars and have three children, one in college and two at home.

If you'd like to learn more about what we offer let us know.

May the Lord bless you for your giving to this cause
