Jason and Kelly's Adoption Journey

Donation protected
Hi, we are Jason and Kelly Oliver. We have started on our adoption journey and could not be more excited to grow our family. We fell in love and knew we wanted to start trying to have a family. As athletes and relatively healthy people, we never thought we would have issues with fertility. We were overjoyed and quite honestly, very surprised, when we discovered we were pregnant the first time. We told anyone and everyone very early in the pregnancy. At 8 weeks along we rushed to the ER to discover that we were having a miscarriage (September 2015) and we were completely devastated. Once we had the notion of getting pregnant and having a baby, we wanted to try again immediately, thinking it had to be a freak accident. Within 2 months we were pregnant again and very guarded about sharing the news. We were waiting to tell our families at Christmas that we were expecting again. When we went to our first prenatal checkup they could not find a heartbeat and informed us that we were having another miscarriage (December 2015). Again, we were devastated and frustrated that this had happened again. Kelly’s body had gone through so much in such a short time, we decided we needed to take a break from trying to start a family and enjoy being newlyweds. Soon we found ourselves moving to Bloomington, Indiana for an awesome opportunity for Jason to coach volleyball at Indiana University. During this transition, Kelly went to multiple doctors’ appointments and ran several tests to pinpoint why this was happening.  We soon learned that distance does make the heart grow fonder and we discovered we were pregnant again. With the help of hormones and daily shots we had our first successful prenatal checkup and even got to hear the baby’s heartbeat for the first time. We let ourselves get excited, knowing the third time was the charm. Kelly was enjoying all of the normal pregnancy symptoms and we were getting ready to share the news once we reached the 12-week mark. Unfortunately, at 10 weeks we had our third miscarriage (July 2016). We were completely drained emotionally, mentally and physically. Although we continue to visit different doctors and run more tests, having a biological child is off the table for us because we cannot bear the thought of having to go through another miscarriage.

There are not words to express the hurt and heartache we have felt in the last year. The one thing that is amazing is that our love for one another only continues to grow and our bond is stronger than ever. The main realization that has come from this experience is our desire to be parents. After many hours of research and phone calls we have decided to work with an amazing law firm (Kirsh & Kirsh) to start the process. We are graciously asking for donations to help supplement the cost of our adoption journey. You are helping us make our dream of becoming parents possible. We are ready to open our home and our hearts to a much desired baby and would be so appreciative if you would open your hearts to help us and join us on our next adventure.
