Hello Everyone!
My name is Jana Swanson and I am currently a Second-year college student. Recently it was the anniversary of my Grandma Sara's death, she passed away November 1, 2009 at the age of 59, after being diagnosed with brain cancer in July of 2008. I have decided to run the RiverBank Run in Grand Rapids MI, in May of 2017. I am choosing to train for the next 6 months to run the 25k. To some, this is crazy, and even to myself, but I am determined.
I am starting this fundraising page to raise money for my registration fee, which is nearly $60, but anything after that $60 will be donated to StandUp2Cancer, which is the charity that the RiverBank Run 2017 is choosing. I wrote that my goal is $100, to start small, but I am hoping to raise much more than that. My family has lived a lot of life in the past 7 years without a woman who was so important to all of us; I want to raise money for cancer research, so that no more families will have to face so much life without a loved one. My grandmother, Sara Jane Huston had a lot of life left to give and she didn't get the opportunity because of cancer, a disease that we need to find a cure for.
