Jamila’s Lift4Life Outreach Trip to Zimbabwe

Hello all!
This summer, I will be partnering with Lift4Life Worldwide on a powerlifting outreach trip to Harare, Zimbabwe alongside a group of incredibly passionate lifters. We will visit Lift4Life community gyms and assist with workshops, organize a local powerlifting meet and help with Lift4Life equipment donations. We will also have the opportunity to train and learn alongside athletes in the community.
I am looking to fundraise a portion of my individual trip costs - I’ve included a number of details below (basically key info that I would want to know). I appreciate any support and the overwhelming amount of encouragement that I have already received! Powerlifting has changed my life in some of the most incredible ways, and so has my love of travel and volunteering. I am very excited to combine three of my passions through this exceptional opportunity with Lift4Life.
I will be posting updates here throughout the fundraising process as well as throughout the trip - please let me know if any questions. Thank you very much!
Dates of the Outreach Trip: July 18 - 28, 2019. This will consist of 5 days of powerlifting outreach, followed by 5 days of exploring Zimbabwe alongside the outreach team.
Money stuff / where your donation will be going:
- Cost of the trip: $4,300 (Full Trip Itinerary Here!)
- Approx. cost of flight from NYC area (JFK, LGA, Newark): $1,500
- Other associated travel costs (vaccinations, visas, etc)
- Any amounts donated in excess of trip expenses will be donated to Lift4Life Worldwide
Note: Total trip expenses is more than what I am looking to fundraise - I recognise that a portion of the trip is a safari and don’t expect to fundraise my personal travels :)
