Relief for Jama y Bahia, Ecuador

$6,130 of $8,000 goal

Raised by 68 people in 36 months

Jama, Ecuador has been hit by multiple earthquakes in the last 24 hours. My uncle, Carlos Diago, is there and we have finally been able to speak to him. All of his wife's family is there (follow Ximena Cevallos on Facebook for more updates on the situation) and the town is completely destroyed. There are many injured and unaccounted for. Everyone is sleeping outside. I will try to update everyone as we get more information but with the limited phone calls we have they are telling us what they need. We send these suitcases with people traveling to Jama/Bahia. They go directly to my uncle and my aunts family who help the mayor distribute the medical supplies directly to the doctors in Jama/Bahia.

What this gofundme campaign is for:
- money for the baggage fee (~$125 per bag on LAN)
- money for the bags we are sending the supplies in (~ $13 walmart duffle bags)
- medical equipment
- non perishable food (lightweight)

Hey Everyone,

4/21/16 11:00pm update- Thank you to all from my family to yours

News from Jama- there has been another earthquake/ aftershock of a 6.0 magnitude. They told us that everything is already to the ground so there was not much damage. There are bulldozers entering Jama to clear out the debris. The death tolls are higher than what is being reported. There is a terrible smell lingering in the air in the most affected cities. We have gotten a better lists of supplies that are needed (TENTS and Baby supplies especially!). If you know anyone traveling to ecuador please let us know. The fastest and most secure way to assure things reach Jama and Bahia is through people flying to Ecuador and traveling by car from the airport. My Aunts family will pick up all supplies at the airport once they land.

Our work efforts today: We have spent the entire day picking up supplies groups have collected. We organized all the supplies and packed them so they are ready to go. We usually find out people are traveling the same day so we always need to have bags ready to go to the airport. We have a total of 6 bags ready to go as of today!
