IT relief: Upgrading School Infrastructure

Tax deductible
It's difficult to connect with people on issues so far removed from every day life, why does anybody care or have the time? That's true for me, I've never given to charity or thought I'd make any kind of dent in their ultimate goal.

Except this time.

The aim for me is simple: provide IT support and training to kids and teachers. To teach them what we take for granted every single day. I can't tell you why I decided to become involved in the charity, it's not a sudden revelation. During my studies and the people I've met, it's become more and more apparent to me just how critical IT is.

Everything we do, every aspect of life we depend upon a computer of some description.

It doesn't feel right to me that there's entire swathes of people and communities who won't be properly equipped, lacking the tools to make the changes to the future they want.
So I wanted to throw my 2 cents (or £100) in and see how I can play my small role and help change that.

Thing is, we're stuck without some tools. Nothing fancy, PC's you and I used perhaps 10-15 years ago that were forgotten and left to landfill can be rescued and sent overseas for use in building a network of teaching and training for upcoming professionals young and old.

With those, we can teach teach them the basics and beyond.
Personally instructing them in the everyday stuff that our teachers taught us.

It's not something I ever expected to be doing, it's weirder still for me to ask for support.
I was going to donate £100 myself, skipping this entirely. But student loans only go so far.

Whatever you may be able to spare, I'll match it. It doesn't need to reach the full amount but literally every £1 will help getting there.

If you're interested in where the money has gone, updating those who have donated and those who haven't would be my genuine pleasure.
Photos, little blogs, videos of the work we're doing can be shared often and anything you'd like to know, I can tell you all about whilst I'm there.

It's a lot to care about, but it's even less to give.

Thank you for reading this far.

More information about Project Zulu: Project Zulu is a UK based charity supporting educational development in the Madadeni Township, South Africa. Working with 6 partnership schools in Madadeni we aim to increase educational opportunities for students, support teacher development and improve school facilities. We achieve this through the support of UK volunteers offering their time and skills in the township. We also offer the township students and teachers opportunities to raise their own funds for school development projects.
