International Air Cadet Exchange

Donation protected
I am a C/Lt Col and among the top 2% of cadets in the Civil Air Patrol (CAP). I was recently honored to have been selected to attend International Air Cadet Exchange (IACE) as a cadet ambassador to the Netherlands this summer. IACE is an annual exchange of visits of air-minded youth with the objective of promoting international understanding, goodwill, and fellowship. The President of the United States, members of Congress, and the heads of many foreign countries have publically commended IACE. IACE cadets are selected for participation based on demonstrated leadership ability, character, and good citizenship. Only the top-most rated applicants are reviewed and selected to become ambassadors.

It has been my dream to attend IACE since before I had even signed my membership paperwork to join CAP. Upon realizing my goal to attend IACE, I set out to promote every 2 months (this is a very rigorous promotion schedule) so that I would reach eligibility to attend IACE. Now, at age 19 and at the grade of C/Lt Col, I have been given the chance to travel to the Netherlands. Having been chosen to attend IACE means the world to me, and I expect to take an immense amount of knowledge and experience from this opportunity. My goal, after returning from IACE, is to share the passion and motivation that I have had for IACE and for CAP with my fellow cadets at the state, region, and even national level.

I have worked very hard for what I have. I earned my Associates degree and high school dipolma last June at age 18 through the Running Start Program. I have been working as a piano teacher to children in my area, as well as various other jobs wherever I could find them, since I started high school. I recently applied for the Bachelor's program at a local community college where I hope to be accepted into the Teacher Education department. My biggest desire in life is to thoughtfully use the gifts and opportunities that I have been given, to give back to those who are less fortunate. I have always found importance in returning the blessings which I have been so freely given. As youths, we as Americans have been afforded many avenues as far as education and opportunities are concerned. I realize that there are many countries in which children receive little-to-no education or hope for their future at all. I believe that education in any form is a gift, and I would like to share my gifts with others.

The cost of attending IACE is quite expensive, accounting for the price of the plane ticket, housing, food, etc. Although the US Air Force, Civil Air Patrol, and organizations from the Netherlands have paid for much of the trip, I cannot afford the remaining $1,000 on my own without neglecting my monthly bills. Support through a donation would be greatly appreciated! God bless you.
