IICSA's 10th Year Ramadan Campaign

Donation protected
My name is Ahmed Bassal, and I wanna tell you a story about the Muslim community in little town called Adelaide, way down in the south of Australia, and I wanna tell you how it changed my life by the will of Allah.

About 10 years ago Adelaide had half a dozen mosques where people could pray, but that’s all there was in the way of services for the city’s Muslim community. There were no Eid festivals for families to enjoy, very little in the way of Saturday or Sunday schools for kids, and nothing at all for Adults who wants to further their Islamic knowledge and come closer to Allah SWT.

Then something changed…

In 2009, the Islamic Information Centre of SA was founded, or "IICSA" as we call it – with a simple mission, to bring the entire population of Adelaide closer to Allah. IICSA started with Saturday and Sunday school classes for kids, and soon the demand outgrew their capacity. They moved twice to larger premises to make room for all the kids whose parents wanted to them to have an Islamic foundation.

IICSA ARABIC SCHOOL
Since then, nearly 3,000 students have graduated from the IICSA Arabic school, specializing in Quran and Islamic studies, and now they employ over 60 teachers.

IICSA YOUTH CAMPS
But IICSA isn’t just about classrooms. IICSA also organized more than 18 youth camps over the years with more than 600 attendees!

IICSA'S ADELAIDE THUNDER FOOTBALL CLUB
They set up the Adelaide Thunder Muslim soccer club to teach kids about sportsmanship, training and discipline and let them have fun – and now that soccer club has won 3 premierships and has attracted national and international sponsorship to keep them well equipped.

IICSA YOUTH
They set up IICSA youth to hold special events for young people, and have had more than 2,000 young people come along and be inspired.

IICSA ADULT CLASSES
IICSA took a holistic approach to transformation, not just focusing on kids but adults too. They established evening classes for adults to come and learn to read and speak Arabic, study the life of the Prophet, learn Fiqh, and even classes for non-Muslims to come and learn about Islam.

INTRODUCTION TO ISLAM - THE NEW MUSLIM COURSE
Hundreds of people have come into IICSA to find out what Islam is about and ended up accepting Islam and becoming Muslim themselves through the Introduction to Islam course, which has now sprouted branches in other Australian states.

IICSA EID FESTIVAL AND PRAYER
IICSA established outdoor Eid prayers and festivals, which have now become recognised as large multicultural events and attracted support from local council and public figures. After 16 Eid festivals to date, they just keep getting bigger, with plenty of non-Muslim families coming along to enjoy the fun.
