Operation Christmas Child Box

$795 of $1,000 goal

Hi, I'm Lacy Deets.  I'm almost 8 years old, and I had an idea about Christmas.
In two weeks, we are going to Phoenix.  We're going to go to the Childrens Hospital and give a child some presents.
Last week, our family was given a box full of presents.  Whoever wanted to give it to us said they weren't sneaky enough, so they gave it to my Uncle JC to give to us.  Now we have some presents under our tree!
I watched a movie about a guy in the hospital.  I got an idea that would help the children in the hospital: I will raise money to buy presents and maybe help their families!
I hope the family and child I give to will be happy and joyful and will feel better! I will give to a child that isn't feeling good, and he or she (that is sick and can't get out of the hospital for a long time) will be given presents, candy, and a hug.
Can you help me?  I have about 20 or 30 cents.  It is very hopeful to the child I give to.  This is a wonderful thing in my life!  Better than playing and doing things that are good.  This is the best thing I have done in my life!

I am grateful I could do this.
Thank you so so so much!

A new update in Lacy's words with a few pictures of donations AND a little video of her saying "thank you!"

She is OVER HALF WAY to her goal! Everything is falling seamlessly into place -this project truly is God-sent.

We all feel as if there's a family out there praying for this money this holiday season, and we all know God will lead us to them -because God works miracles.
And you -you wonderful inspired army of angels -are making it possible!

Hello everyone!
Lacy's mom, Alicia, is taking over this update :) Lacy will want to report herself on the progress that's been made with her project, but I wanted to pop in and say a few things.
1) Yesterday, I was able to read an e-mail her Dad sent out to a few work friends. He knows a few things about the Project that I didn't know, and they are so touching, I wanted to share them with you:
"Last week my brother in law stopped by with a gift of presents for our family from an unknown person. This act of kindness touched my 7 year old daughter Lacy and she wanted to come up with a way to help others. The other night she was watching a Christmas movie with Alicia about a man in a hospital ("Christmas in Connecticut", 1948)and in her words, “It just came to me.” She decided she wanted to buy gifts for children in the Phoenix Children’s Hospital but she only had “two bucks.” Alicia told her that we would help her make a box she could collect donations in the morning. That night, after Alicia had fallen asleep, Lacy got to work and made her own make shift box to collect donations in. I had been out with my brother in law and had no idea what she’d been up to. I came in to find her box all made up and found her on her knees. The next morning Alicia told me about Lacy’s idea and said there was a website for collecting donations called “Go Fund Me.” My wife set up an account for Lacy with her story in her own words and a video and posted it to her Facebook account yesterday. In just one day Lacy has raised $150.00 on the site and has had in person donations from people in town!

We are going to the Phoenix area the weekend of December 12, and Lacy is wanting to have her donations by then so we can go buy the gifts and give them. ALL proceeds will go to the gifts and any left over money will be donated to a family at the hospital. To see this level of charity in a seven year old is inspiring and I want to help her as much as I can."

2) At the suggestion of a dear friend, I'm going to start having Lacy blog her feelings and progress on her project on my blog ( www.storyladyblog.com) so that we can have a blog book made up just for her.

3) I'm attaching a picture of her makeshift donation box which is made using an empty candy cane box, duct tape, and brown paper.

4) Thank you ALL for sharing this project -your support is really changing the life of my daughter, and I'm privileged to witness it all unfold! Thank you for blessing our lives!
