I'm running the Dublin Marathon for my Dad
Donation protected
As I write this, it is a week til the second anniversary of my Dad's passing. I love him and miss him every day. While my Dad was in hospital, and as I progress/ed through my grief, running was always there, providing me with a way to be able to think about my Dad, and still manage to feel ok. I do an awful lot of thinking about him, and with that I started running further and further! Dad had said a few times he would have loved to run a marathon, so I've decided to run it for him.
From 2007 to the week he passed, my Dad travelled after work- almost every week- down to Wicklow to volunteer at Tiglin; an organisation which aims to help people with life-controlling addiction problems, and assist them in becoming productive members of society. As an addiction counsellor, Dad was ideally placed to help them in their work, and eventually served several years on their board of management. Having attended several Tiglin events myself, including graduations where the Tiglin students tell their incredible stories of how they have overcome addiction, I've seen it is possible to believe in 'Life Beyond Addiction', which is Tiglin's slogan. Feel free to support their work through my campaign page, or shout at me as I run 42km through Dublin on Sunday October 27th!
Thank you to all of you who have been with me over the last 2 years during the good and bad times, and for your support for Tiglin; every penny I raise will go to Tiglin as they continue this fantastic, life-changing work.
