~PRAYERS FOR TORI LYNN~

Donation protected
Tori Lynn Jenkins is a two year old little girl with curly brown hair, a bright smile and cheerful disposition. She loves to chase her siblings, to play dress-up and to play on the beach. Tragically, in the early morning hours of August 30, 2015, her entire world changed when her father entered the family home with a large caliber handgun and shot her in the leg while she slept on the sofa with her brother and sister. The bullet entered her calf, traveled up her leg, shattered her femur and narrowly missed the femoral artery before lodging in her hip.
Due to the wonderful assistance of the 911 operators and the rapid response of local emergency crews, Tori was airlifted to A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children and underwent surgery to place 4 metal pins and an external fixator.
Now that Tori Lynn is on the road to recovery, we are picking up the pieces and trying to figure out how to live in this new reality.
Tori Lynn’s father is in prison, facing felony weapons charges and child endangerment charges. Tori Lynn and her two siblings – Hayden, age 10 and Emily, age 6 are in the sole custody of me, their mother. Unfortunately I am unable to work because Tori Lynn requires full time, round the clock care and will for at least the next few months while she recovers from her injuries. Life in a single parent household is never easy, and is complicated further by having a parent in prison, but with the injuries caused by Tori Lynn’s father and the ramifications from these injuries, we have been both emotionally and financially devastated. Now, the family needs support from friends, family and anyone who is able to help.
Tori Lynn is considered a miracle child by her doctors and those closest to her. She survived an injury that should have and almost did kill her. She is showing signs of making a full recovery and there appears to be no nerve damage to complicate things. The family considers this a sign from God that this sweet girl has big things left to do in her life. First though, they are going to need a tremendous amount of support. Tori Lynn’s siblings both witnessed the horrible act of violence perpetrated by their father and require extensive therapy. Hayden is autistic and will require additional specialized services to get through this terrifying ordeal. Tori Lynn will have to undergo several more surgeries, in addition to traveling to Wilmington from their home in Southern Delaware weekly for wound care and follow-up. We have bills mounting and despite tremendous support from their church family and friends, more is still needed.
Please consider supporting us through prayer, through advocacy for domestic violence and/or gun safety and most importantly right now through financial assistance.
