Please Help Flooded Houston Fencers

Dear fencers and families,
This is Nicole Pustilnik of Team Touche Fencing Center in San Diego, CA.
As you all know, Hurricane Harvey and the flood following it brought devastating destruction to Houston. Our fellow fencers there were not spared, either. There are four fencing clubs in Houston, and I contacted them all to see if their fencers or coaches need our support. It turns out- they really do!
Several fencing families lost their homes in the floods. We are trying to help Liz (epee), Dan (saber), Liv (foil) and Troy, a 10-year-old fencer who lost all his fencing gear. (The main photo is of Troy’s house. The stories are in the Updates section.) Please join me in raising money to support these and, perhaps, other Houston athletes who need help in these difficult times. While we cannot replace their homes and cars, we definitely can contribute to replacing and fixing their equipment and gear.
The recovery and the rebuilding will be a lengthy process. Red Cross, FEMA, Salvation Army are trying to take care of the immediate needs. However, to help these students recover from the trauma caused by this catastrophe, it is imperative that they return to their standard routines as soon as possible. For the fencers, it means being able to go back to the gym to fence. I started this campaign to help that happen.
I will keep updating this website with more information about our fellow fencers in Houston (please check the Updates tab above). At this moment, the coaches are still in the process of reaching out to the families of their students. The connection has been spotty, but more information will emerge soon.
