Hope’s Vocational Ballet Training

Hi, my name is Hope, I am 15 years old, and have a huge dream of becoming a professional dancer, or to be more specific, a professional ballet dancer. I only started dancing ballet 4 years ago, whereas most dancers start when they’re 2 or 3! This has meant I have had to work tremendously hard to catch up, as well as having to cope with the worries of not making it in the dancing world. Despite not having the luxury, and head-start of starting earlier, I have been driven and dedicated in hope that one day my dream could come true. 

My first choice of vocational schools was The Northern Ballet School, in Manchester, UK, to which I gained a place, as well as a full scholarship, which I am delighted about! Meaning I will start in September 2019. In spite of the scholarship taking a lot of the financial pressures off, things like accommodation and living expenses aren’t included in the DADA award, meaning there still is a lot to pay. My mother is a single mother of three, therefore money is tight and is only spent on me and my siblings, as well as my current dancing fees.

My family have done all they can for me by taking me too my current dance school, more or less everyday, which is almost an hour from where I live, as well as taking me to my monthly associate class. Additionally I also attend a private pilates session to which they take me too. I have also been lucky enough to attend some summer schools, last summer I was fortunate to attend Elmhurst. They have also had to sacrifice things like holidays to pay my fees, to which I am more than grateful for. My siblings have also had to give up a lot for me, such as waiting around until I finish class and not having a hobby/passion of there own, to which I am extremely thankful for, but feel guilty about. 

With my family already having to sacrifice so much, I am keen to help assist them into making my dreams come true, which is why I set this page up! 

I have worked tirelessly already to try and reach this point, and am very dedicated, I know at The Northern Ballet School I would make the most out of being there, and cherish every moment, with my dream of becoming a professional dancer always being in sight.
