Jack's Pancreatic Fund

"Don't tell God you have a big problem, tell your problem you have a big GOD"

Jackson was diagnosed with Hereditary Chronic Pancreatitis in 2009. Chronic pancreatitis is inflammation of the pancreas that does not heal or improve—it gets worse over time and leads to permanent damage. Chronic pancreatitis eventually impairs a patient’s ability to digest food and make pancreatic hormones. Before this progresses to being permanently damaged, we have received a referral and hope to get a Total pancreatectomy with islet auto-transplantation (TP-IAT). Even with the risk of the pancreas dying out, we still face the Chronic pain, and need to avoid hereditary pancreatic cancer, which is why it needs to be removed.

Jack is a wonderful, non-traditional father of 2, and full time student striving to receive his Masters Degree in Social Work, as well as working full time helping the youth at a local hospital. He has truly been an inspiration to those around him with his giving heart to those he wants to help, and strength to persevere through the debilitating pain. He's on the verge of getting a pain pump, and with the pain being so severe, I had to adjust my school schedule to get him to class which is over two hours away every week.

Our first trip to Minnesota is in December to meet with the surgical team, and to get a series of tests done. We are hoping to have a local church help with housing, but haven't had any feedback yet. The money raised will be used for the accumulation of medical bills, several trips to out of state hospitals, (since they don't provide what we need here). It will go towards a hereditary blood test that will cost us $4000, out of pocket, and will also go towards our vehicle that will get us to and from our destinations.

This has been a rough two years for us since the severity of the attacks have worsened, and his weight dropped 70lbs. It's also a struggle for our kids to understand the sacrifice. We are truly blessed for our friends and family that has walked by our side through all of our past struggle. We know the best is yet to come, and there is an end to this. Keep us in your prayers!
