Why a Home2Home Run?
After his love of family and friends, Kevin’s great love was for sport.

With a sporting career spanning over 24 years, Kevin wore many jerseys with pride and distinction.

He saw much success with the green and gold of his home club, Moyne / Templetuohy, at both juvenile and adult level, in hurling and football.

He won under-10 county, Munster and all-Ireland medals in football and an all-Ireland u-14 hurling medal.

At just 17 years old, he won his first senior football medal for Moyne / Templetuohy after a lapse of 15 years.

In 2005, Kevin won a divisional and county intermediate football final. He was also part of the u-21 team that won 4 in a row divisional titles in hurling and football.

He won three intermediate hurling finals.

Kevin’s talent knew no bounds and he could play in any position in hurling or football, from goalkeeper to corner forward.

Kevin played senior hurling and football with Clane GAA after moving to Kildare. He was a member of the 2009 winning senior hurling league panel and the 2013 junior hurling league panel.

Kevin was also a very skilled and successful soccer player. Starting out with Templetuohy at a young age, he joined Peake Villa in Thurles at u-13 level.

Kevin won a lot of domestic honours with the club in schoolboy football and was capped for Ireland at U14, U15 and U16 level.

He won two Munster youth cups, represented Peake Villa in two FAI youth club finals and was on the team that got to the FAI Junior cup semi final.

Kevin got called for many trials in the UK and won the Milk Cup with Manchester City. Kevin also spent time playing with Cherry Orchard FC.

Kevin loved sport and was an extremely devoted player. His love of sport was evident up to his final days, when he coached the Clane U-9 boys’ soccer team. He loved this role and enjoyed nothing more than attending matches and passing on his knowledge to the boys. His son, Callum, plays on this team and has inherited his dad’s love of sport.

Given his lifelong love of sport and his strong community involvement, the Home2Home Run will be a fitting tribute to Kevin.
