Home for the Holidays: Christmas for Lucy

Donation protected
A letter from Judy and Peter: "Leah and Reid got married two years ago and were excited to start their life together. Leah is a teacher and Reid is in the trucking industry. Jan 2018 they found out they were expecting their first child and were excited beyond imagination... Their baby would be due September 9th. a few months into the pregnancy they were told that their baby girl would have Downs Syndrome. They both knew that it didn’t matter and they would love her with all their hearts. Unfortunately the baby stopped growing and on Aug 16th Lucy was delivered 4 weeks early by an Emergency C section. She weighed 3 lbs 8 oz. She is a little fighter.. She has to be on oxygen full time; she has a feeding tube and she also had to have a colostomy as she had a bowl blockage a couple of weeks after she was born. Lucy finally came home after about 52 days in the hospital and was home for 26 days but is back in the hospital right now with Pneumonia. She has spent 64 days in the hospital so far. As first time parents Reid and Leah have a lot of stress caring for their little one. They spend their days at the hospital and most nights. When she was home they had the worry of her oxygen levels going down and setting off an alarm so they didn’t get much sleep. Now being back at the hospital again and not knowing for how long this time; I know they won’t have time to even think about decorating for Christmas .. I know their baby is all they want and need right now.. but With being at the hospital all the time Reid has been unable to work as he want to be there for Lucy & Leah and not only do they have the usual expense of a baby but they have the additional expenses of parking; food at the hospital; additional specialty supplies they require for Lucy when she’s home and so much more. As young parents they have been through such a tough time these past several months and could certainly use some brightness in their lives." Big Dog 92.7 has had an outpouring of love towards the couple, so we'd like to direct any donations towards this page if you'd like to contribute towards making their first Christmas with Lucy that much more special. All donations will be directly deposited to Leah and Reid to use towards Christmas gifts and decorations for Lucy, as well as their Christmas dinner.
