Heroes' Commons at Jefferson Park

The Florida Real Estate Foundation (FREF), the City of Orlando and their partners have developed a housing program for veterans of the US armed services.  

Please consider contributing to the Heroes' Commons at Jefferson Park veteran housing project. With your financial support, the American dream of homeownership will be the best gift you can give this holiday season. 

The Heroes' Commons at Jefferson Park veteran housing project includes an urban housing development with six detached, single-family homes designed by AIA Orlando architects and built by local members of the Greater Orlando Builders Association. Homes will be ADA compliant with flexible floor plans. 

The City of Orlando has donated six contiguous lots for the project in the Parramore community, directly southwest of Orlando’s business district. FREF's intent is to provide these six homes to a veteran mortgage free. However, homeowners will still need to meet certain financial counseling and income requirements and will be chosen by a selection committee.

 The foundation needs to raise approximately $855,000 to fund the project. Significant attention will focus on donations of labor, building supplies, etc. To date, the foundation has contributions/commitments for over $600,000.

While addressing the housing issue is paramount, our veterans need additional assistance as well. Through the collaborative spirit of the project's partners, homeowners will have access to supportive services to help ensure successful transition out of military life and into homeownership. Services such as physical health screening and treatment, mental health counseling, and educational assessment will be customized to address each individual's specific issue and be available as long as there is a need.
