Wyatt the Warrior

We, the friends and family of this new little family have started this page to help them get through this difficult time.  Let's help make things a little bit easier for Loni and Brian Smith and their new little love Wyatt. Loni and Brian found out at about 19 weeks, that their little boy Wyatt would be facing some struggles. They found out that Wyatt had LUTO, which meant that he had an obstruction that prevented his bladder from draining. Wyatt and Loni went through a procedure to insert a shunt in utero that would allow his bladder to drain. Unfortunately the shunt did not stay put, and Loni and Wyatt had to go through this process a total of 5 times. During this process, Brian was always the loving husband taking off work to be with his wife and unborn son. After the fourth procedure, Loni was put in bed rest and was not allowed to work. Loni is an 8th grade teacher who loves her job and students. Loni followed the doctors orders, and stopped teaching weeks before her planned maternity leave. Once Wyatt needed the procedure for the 5th time complications occurred which caused Loni to be admitted to the hospital until they would deliver Wyatt at 34 weeks, which was still about three weeks away. Luckily Wyatt is a little fighter, and he was born on February 19th, after 30 hours of labor and an emergency C Section. This little boy is the light of his parent's lives, and they love him more and more every day. Sadly Wyatt still has a long road a head of him, with many more battles to fight. He will be in the NICU for an undetermined amount of time, and his parents spend about 2.5 hours round trip traveling to and from the hospital. They have been trying to get into the Ronald McDonald house, but there have not been any rooms. Help us provide a little relief for this family so they can focus all their time and energy with Wyatt Help us lighten the load for Loni, Brian and Wyatt as he continues to be the little fighter we all love.
