Volunteering Nepal making furniture

Donation protected
My name is Steven, I am 20 years old and I am a participant in the project "The Flying Carpenters"(De Vliegende Meubelmakers). We are exam students from the Hout en Meubilerings College (wood and furniture college) who commit themselves every year to less developed countries providing reconstruction and lessons. The most important goal of The Flying Carpenters is to transfer knowledge to the locals. This allows residents to continue building in the future independently.

In this project I'll go with 3 other boys (Auke, Walter and Donald) to Kathmandu in Nepal for 3 weeks. We do this to teach locals of different villages from different areas in the basis of furniture making.

At the end of those three weeks, the locals go back to their own village to build up houses and furniture with the acquired skills. From then on, together with Walter, I will hop from village to village for 5 weeks. Here we will be able to provide advice and guide the residents in the work process.

The funding will mainly go to tools both for teaching and the necessary material for the residents themselves.
Afterwards, the locals will be given a kit with all kinds of hand tools so that they can independently build a few years further and continue to make furniture. We also pay the wood out of our own pocket and we will spend it there.
