Help rebuild the Amadablam Lodge

Donation protected

What happened?
On November 29th, the Amadablam Lodge in Kyangjuma - one of the Everest Base Camp's most beautiful lodges - was destroyed by a fire. The fire completely brought down the lodge's main building, including the main dining hall for guest, 16 rooms and the family's private prayer room.

The owner, Tashi Sherpa, lost her home, her livelihood, her savings and the jewellery she made and sold to trekkers and visitors, along with a lifetime of irreplacable souvenirs, photos, and memorabilia.

Life on the Everest Base Camp trek is a difficult one, and rebuilding will not be an easy task, but with our help, Tashi and her family will be able to buy the necessary materials and tools and possibly hire some help to get this beautiful lodge back up in running.

More about Kyangjuma and the Amadablam lodge
The village of Kyangjuma (or Kenjoma), 3,600m of altitude, is a small village on the ascending route from Namche Bazar to Tengboche on the Everest Base Camp trek. It is located in the Sagarmatha National Park on the west side of the Dudh Kosi River, high above the river bed, and offers a spectacular view of one of the world’s most beautiful summits: Ama Dablam.

Although not located in one of the biggest villages on the trek, the welcoming Ama Dablam Lodge owned by Tashi is one of the most popular lodges on the trek. Whether it’s to enjoy a ginger and lemon tea on the terrace, overlooking Ama Dablam, or staying the night in a comfortable room, this lodges has attracted generations of trekkers and become one a historic stop on the way up to or down from the Everest Base camp.

Under the caring supervision of Tashi Sherpa, the Amadablam lodge is one of the warmest, nicest and most comfortable lodges I have stayed. Tashi is a perfect host, taking care of trekkers as if we were part of the family, with a kind heart, a warm fire and excellent food.

How will this work?
Upon hearing the news of this tragedy, my fellow trekkers and I, who stayed at Tashi's lodge in October, wanted to do something to help her and her family out any way we could. Knowing that many around the world have visited Tashi and stayed at Amadablam Lodge, an online crowdfunding campaign seemed like the easiest way to do it. The donations will be transferred to Pasang Sherpa, mountain guide and friend of Tashi’s, to insure that every cent donated goes straight to helping the family. If you have any questions, please contact me.

Thank you
